Games and Grandmas

Yesterday playing Eliot with Candyland. I almost got to the end before him when he said "You have to have the exact color to win or else you have to start going backwards." He drew a card and kept moving forward. Each time I drew a card he reminded me, "Grandma, You have to go backwards." When it was my turn again I asked him. "Can I go forward now?" and Eliot would say, "Nope, you have to go backwards."
This reminded me of Troy a few years ago playing Chess with Grandma J.
They had to play by Troy's rules. Troy told Grandma the rules. He would tell her how to move, what piece to move, and when to move. They would sit on the corner of the kitchen table across from each other and play several games. By the end of each game, Grandma would have very few of Troy's pieces and Troy would have almost ALL of her pieces.

Grandma's are SO PATIENT!
I remember playing 26 with Grandma J while watching Matlock in her room after school.

I miss Grandma so much despite never having met her in this life. She loved Matlock?! I love Matlock!
