I can sleep when the wind blows.

Over the years I have heard lots of stories....and with four Eagle Scout Sons, I have heard my share of Scout Stories. But one comes to mind today---during the most windy day I can remember in a long time! The punch line was something like,
"I" can sleep when the wind blows.

The story goes that a farmer, too tired to put his animals in the barn at night and lock up the barn doors, may or may not run into problems---he leaves it up to chance with the weather. Maybe this once or twice won't matter, he tells himself. And when a summer storm blows in unexpectedly, his cattle, horses, sheep and chickens are scattered near and far. The unprepared farmer spends many days trying to collect all his animals back onto his property---and possibly even looses some forever.

But "I" always lock up my animals and secure the barn doors each night...even when I am too tired. So at night in my bed when the howl of the storm rattles the rafters,
I can sleep when the wind blow!

What meaning does this story take on for you, especially since you probably don't live on a farm?

This story reminds me of my priorities & choices. What you choose to do depends on your priorities. So make good decisions so when the wind blows, or the child cries, or the bills are due you are prepared.
